Santa Baby Live - Christmas Show
Cheryl Conley is a recent recipient of the Individual Artist Grant presented by The City of Pasadena/ Cultural Affairs Division and holds the honor of being the first voice major to receive a music degree in Jazz Studies from California State University Los Angeles. Inspired by the stylings of Ella Fitzgerald, who told her to practice everyday, Cheryl has worked hard to become the talent she is. With a voice as smooth as silk and an approach to melody that is always surprising and yet familiar, she epitomizes the real deal. Newell Canfield, drummer, has backed Cheryl Conley for over 30 years. Newell plays with such subtlety and sophistication that he has gained the respect and distinction of being a musician’s musician. Newell brings to the table a New York savvy that can either bring you to tears or knock you into next week. He is one of the most musical, tasteful, and dynamic drummers on the scene today. Newell produced and plays drums on Cheryl Conley’s “Santa Baby” album which is destined to become Christmas jazz classic. This will be the third year in a row that Cheryl & Newell will perform Santa Baby Live at the Hip Kitty...it has become a holiday tradition. Friday December 18.
